When our lives face failure due to outdated methods, the introduction of new ideas becomes an absolute necessity. History has always been a battlefield where change fights against tradition. Whenever a new thought or invention emerges, society typically follows a three-stage pattern: first, it ridicules; second, it fiercely opposes; and finally, it accepts the change as self-evident. The primary reason for this resistance is that established power structures and those who have already achieved success are unwilling to leave their comfort zones. For instance, the telephone faced immense backlash from those committed to the telegraph, just as motor vehicles were once mocked by those who relied on horse-drawn carriages. Winners who prioritize old methods fear that innovation will render their hard-earned experience and investments worthless. Consequently, they use their influence to label new discoveries as "dangerous" or "unnecessary" to suppress progress.
Behind this insistence on tradition lies a psychological defense mechanism. Successful individuals often believe that the "old formulas" that brought them to the top will remain effective forever. This is a phenomenon known as the **"Stagnation Trap."** This mindset of resisting change has led to the downfall of many great empires and global giants. Classic examples include **Kodak**, which ignored the digital camera revolution, and **Nokia**, which missed the smartphone wave. Because of their over-reliance on past victories, they failed to face the new tide. While history may be documented by those who glorify the past, it is pushed toward the future only by the revolutionaries who possess the courage to shatter old patterns.
In today’s modern world, this conflict has intensified. With the rise of **Artificial Intelligence (AI)**, blockchain, and new economic models, the older generation of industrialists and experts often views these advancements as threats to their livelihoods. However, the truth is that no new innovation completely destroys the old; instead, it evolves it into a more advanced state. A society that prioritizes the old may feel safe, but it is ultimately hostile to growth. Those who embrace innovation may face initial failures and public humiliation, but they are the ones who write the history for the next generation. Thus, while history may try to hold onto the past with a tight grip, time itself always stands firmly on the side of change.
