GENERAL TALKS - எப்போதும் மரியாதைக்கு உரியவர்கள் !

இந்த 4 பேரும் ஒரே பள்ளியில் பத்தாவது வரை படித்தவர்கள். அப்போது அந்த ஊரில் இருந்த ஒரே ஒரு சொகுசு ஹோட்டல். அது. பத்தாவது தேர்வு முடிந்ததும் அந்த ஹோட்டலுக்குப் போய் டீயும் காலையுணவும் சாப்பிடலாம் என்று முடிவு செய்தார்கள். நால்வரும் ஆளுக்கு இருபது ரூபாய் என மொத்தம் 80 ரூபாயை டெபாசிட் செய்து கொண்டனர், அன்று ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை, பத்து முப்பது மணிக்கு சைக்கிளில் ஹோட்டலை அடைந்தனர். தேநீர் மற்றும் காலை உணவு சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டே பேச ஆரம்பித்தனர். 35 வருடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு நாம் ஐம்பது வயதை தொட்டிருப்போம். அப்போது உன் மீசை எப்படியிருக்கும், உன் முடி எப்படியிருக்கும், உன் நடை எப்படியிருக்கும், என்றெல்லாம் பேசி சத்தமாக சிரித்துக் கொண்டனர். வார்த்தைக்கு வார்த்தை சில்லறை சிதறுவது போன்று சிரிப்பொலி அவ்விடத்தையே ரம்மியமாக மாற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அன்றைய நாள் ஒரு ஏப்ரல் 01. நாம் மீண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 01 ஆம் தேதி 35 வருடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு இதே ஹோட்டலில் சந்திப்போம் என்று நால்வரும் ஒருமனதாக முடிவு செய்தனர். அதுவரை நாம் அனைவரும் மிகவும் கடினமாக உழைக்க வேண்டும், இதில் எந்த அளவு முன்னேற்றம் நமக்குள்ளே ஏற்படுகிறது என்பதைப் பார்ப்பது சுவாரஸ்யமாக இருக்கும். அன்றைய தினம் கடைசியாக ஹோட்டலுக்கு வரும் நண்பன் தான் ஹோட்டல் பில் கட்ட வேண்டும். என முடிவெடுத்துக் கொண்டனர். இதையெல்லாம் கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்த அவருக்கு டீ, ப்ரேக்ஃபாஸ்ட் கொடுத்த வெயிட்டர், நான் 35 வருடம் இதே ஹோட்டலில் இருந்தால் நிச்சயமாக உங்களுக்காக இந்த ஹோட்டலில் காத்திருப்பேன். என்று சொல்லி 72 ரூபாய் பில்லை கொடுத்தான். மீதம் 8 ரூபாய் டிப்ஸாக வைத்துக் கொள்ளும்படி சொல்லி விட்டு சிட்டாக சைக்கிளில் பறந்த காட்சி வெயிட்டர் கண்களில் ஸ்டில் போட்டோவாக பதிந்து இருந்தது. மேல் படிப்புக்காக நால்வரும் பிரிந்தனர்.  ஒரு நண்பனின் அப்பா இடம்மாற்றத்தினால் அவன் ஊரை விட்டிருந்தான், இன்னொரு நண்பன் மேல்படிப்புக்காக அவன் மாமாவிடம் போனான், மற்ற இரு நண்பர்களும் நகரின் வெவ்வேறு கல்லூரிகளில் அட்மிஷன் பெற்றனர். நாட்கள் நகர்ந்தன. மாதங்கள் உருண்டன. ஆண்டுகள் பல கடந்தன.  முப்பத்து ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளில் அந்த நகரத்தில் மாற்றங்களின் தேரோட்டமே ஏற்பட்டது எனலாம். நகரத்தின் மக்கள் தொகை பெருகியது, சாலைகள் விரிந்தன. மேம்பாலங்கள் பெருகின. பெரிய கட்டடங்கள் நகரத்தின் தோற்றத்தையே மாற்றின. இப்போது அந்த ஹோட்டல் வெறும் ஒரு ஹோட்டல் அல்ல. ஐந்து நட்சத்திர ஹோட்டலாக உருமாறியிருந்த நிலையில், வெயிட்டர் இப்போது அந்த ஹோட்டலின் உரிமையாளரானார்.  35 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு, திட்டமிட்ட தேதி, ஏப்ரல் 01, மதியம், ஹோட்டல் வாசலில் ஒரு சொகுசு கார் வந்தது. முதலாவதாக ஒரு நண்பர் காரில் இருந்து இறங்கி வராந்தாவை நோக்கி நடக்க ஆரம்பித்தார், அவரிடம் இப்போது பத்து நகைக்கடைகள் உள்ளன.  ஹோட்டல் உரிமையாளரை பார்த்தவர், இருவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டே புன்னகையைப் பரிமாறிக் கொண்டனர். சார் உங்களுக்காக உங்களின் நண்பர் ஒரு மாசத்துக்கு முன்னாடியே டேபிள் புக் பண்ணியிருக்கார் என்று ஹோட்டல் உரிமையாளர் சொன்னார்.  நால்வரில் முதல் ஆளானதால், இன்றைய பில் கட்ட வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை என்று மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார், இதற்காக நண்பர்களை கேலி செய்வார்கள் என நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். ஒரு மணி நேரத்தில் அடுத்த நண்பர் வந்தார், அவர் ஒரு பெரிய பில்டர் ஆனார். வயதிற்கேற்ப இப்போது வயதான மூத்த குடிமகன் போல் காட்சியளித்தார். இப்போது இருவரும் பேசிக்கொண்டு மற்ற நண்பர்களுக்காக காத்திருந்தனர், மூன்றாவதாக ஒரு நண்பர் அடுத்த அரைமணி நேரத்தில் வந்தார்.  அவரிடம் பேசியதில் மிகப் பெரிய தொழிலதிபராக மாறியிருப்பது இருவருக்கும் தெரியவந்தது.  மூன்று நண்பர்களின் கண்களும் திரும்பத் திரும்ப வாசலுக்குப் போய்க் கொண்டிருந்தன, அவர்கள் டேபிளை புக் செய்துவிட்டு இன்னும் வரவேண்டிய இன்னொரு நாலாவது நண்பருக்காக காத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.  அவர் எப்போது வருவார்? GENERAL TALKS - நமக்காக கஷ்டப்படுபவர்களை மதிக்க வேண்டும் !

ஒரு இளைஞன் நன்றாகப் படித்து, ஒரு பெரிய கம்பெனியில் மேனேஜர் வேலைக்கு விண்ணப்பித்திருந்தான். அவன் முதல் நேர்முகத் தேர்வை நன்றாகவே செய்தான். அந்த கம்பெனியின் நிர்வாகி, இறுதி நேர்முகத் தேர்வை நடத்தி தன் முடிவை எடுத்தார். நிர்வாகி இளைஞனின் விண்ணப்பித்திலிருந்து தெரிந்துக் கொண்டது யாதெனில், அவன் பள்ளிப் படிப்பிலிருந்து பட்டதாரிப் படிப்பு வரை ஒரு வருடம் கூட குறைந்த மதிப்பெண்கள் பெற்றதில்லை. நிர்வாகி அவனிடம்,  உனக்குப் பள்ளிக்கூடத்தில்  “படிப்பு உதவித் தொகை” ஏதேனும் கிடைத்ததா என வினவினார். அதற்கு அவன் “இல்லை” என்று பதிலளித்தான். அப்படியானால், “உன் தந்தை பள்ளிக்குத் தொகை கட்டினாரா?” என நிர்வாகி கேட்டார். அதற்கு அந்த இளைஞன், “எனக்கு ஒரு வயது இருக்கும் போதே என் தந்தை இறந்து விட்டார்.  என் தாயார் தான் என்னை பார்த்துக் கொண்டார்” என்றான். தாயார் எங்கு வேலை செய்கிறார் என்று நிர்வாகி விசாரித்தப் பொழுது, அவன் “என் தாயார் சில வீடுகளில் பாத்திரம் தேய்த்தும் துணிகளை வெளுக்கும் வேலைகளை செய்கிறார்” என்று பதிலளித்தான்.  அதற்கு நிர்வாகி இளைஞனிடம் அவனது கைகளைக் காண்பிக்கச் சொன்னார். கைகள் மிருதுவாகவும், சுத்தமாகவும் காணப்பட்டன. உடனடியாக நிர்வாகி, “உன் தாயாருக்குத் துணி வெளுப்பதில் எப்போதேனும் ஏதாவது உதவி செய்திருக்கிறாயா?” எனக் கேட்டார். அந்த இளைஞன் மறுத்தவாறே, “என் தாயார் படிப்பில் மென்மேலும் அக்கறையை செலுத்தச் சொன்னார்” என்று கூறினான். நிர்வாகி இளைஞனிடம் ஒரு வேண்டுக்கோள் விடுத்தார். அன்று இரவு தாயாரின் கைகளை சுத்தப்படுத்த உதவி செய்து, மறுநாள் காலை அவரை சந்திக்குமாறு கூறினார். இளைஞன் மனதில் யோசனை செய்துக் கொண்டே, தனக்குக் கட்டாயம் இந்த வேலை கிடைத்து விடும் என்ற பூரிப்பில் வீடு சென்று தாயாரின் கைகளை சுத்தப்படுத்த அவா கொண்டான். தாயாருக்கு ஒரு புறம் சந்தோஷமும், மறு புறம் பயமும் தோன்ற, கைகளை மகனிடம் காட்டினார். அவன் தாயாரின் கைகளை நிதானமாக சுத்தப் படுத்தத் தொடங்கினான். அவன் கண்களிலிருந்து கண்ணீர் முத்து முத்தாகத் தாயாரின் கைகளில் விழத் தொடங்கியது. தாயாரின் கைகளின் சுருக்கங்களையும், காயங்களையும் முதன் முறையாக மகன் கண்டான். சில காயங்களின் வலி மிக அதிகமாக இருந்தது. தண்ணீர் பட்டதும் தாயார் சிலிர்க்கத் தொடங்கினார். இளைஞன் முதல் முறையாகத் தன் கல்விக்காகத் தாயார் பட்ட துயரங்களை அறிந்தான். அவன் தாயார் செய்த தியாகங்களை நினைவுப் படுத்திக் கொண்டு, கையில் இருக்கும் காயங்களை நினைத்து வருந்தி,  தன் மேற்படிப்பிற்கும், எதிர் காலத்திற்கும், அவன் தாயார் துணி வெளுத்து கஷ்டப் பட்டதை புரிந்துக் கொண்டான். கைகளை சுத்தப்படுத்தியப் பிறகு, மீதியிருந்த துணிகளைத் தானே துவைத்து வைத்தான். தாயும், மகனும் அன்று இரவு வெகு நேரம் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். மறுநாள் காலை இளைஞன் காரியாலயத்திற்குச் சென்று நிர்வாகியை சந்தித்தான். இளைஞனின் கண்ணீரைக் கண்டதும், நிர்வாகி அவனிடம் நடந்த விஷயங்களைக் கேட்டறிந்தார். அவன் எண்ணத்தை நிர்வாகி கேட்டப் போது, இளைஞன் “முதலாவதாக பாராட்டு என்றால் என்னவென்று அறிந்தேன். தாயாரின் உழைப்பு இல்லாவிட்டால் இந்த அளவுக்கு என்னால் வெற்றிப் பெற்றிருக்க முடியாது. இரண்டாவதாக, தாயாருடன் சேர்ந்து எப்படி உதவி செய்வது என்று அறிந்தேன். ஒரு காரியம் வெற்றி அடைய என்னென்ன துன்பங்களை சந்திக்க வேண்டும் என புரிந்து கொண்டேன். மூன்றாவதாக, குடும்பம், உறவு இவற்றின் முக்கியத்துவத்தையும் அறிந்தேன்” என்று சொன்னான். நிர்வாகி, “பிறருடைய வேலையைப் பாராட்டி, அவர்களின் கஷ்டங்களையும், உணர்வுகளையும் புரிந்து கொள்ளும் ஒரு நபரையே தேர்வு செய்ய எண்ணினேன். பணம், செல்வம் தான் லட்சியம் என எவரும் எண்ணக் கூடாது. நான் உன்னைத் தேர்வு செய்கிறேன்” என்று கூறினார். பிற்காலத்தில் அந்த இளைஞன் நன்று உழைத்து தன் கீழ் வேலைச் செய்வோரின் பாராட்டையும், மதிப்பையும் பெற்றான். எல்லோரும் ஒன்றுச் சேர்ந்து கூட்டாக வேலை செய்து கம்பெனியின் பெயரையும் உயரச் செய்தனர்.
